The Joy of the Finish Line- Time to Just Breathe

Even as I sit here reflecting on the week, I catch myself falling into a familiar trap: the urge to downplay my progress. “Maybe it wasn’t good enough,” I think. “Maybe I should finish a few more things before I celebrate.” But I know where that mindset leads ➡️straight to burnout.

This morning, I woke up early and squeezed in three extra hours of work. Just because after weeks of working big projects the finish line was so close, and now, at 8 a.m., I’ve crossed it. Whoo hoo! I’m choosing to pause and enjoy this moment.

In the past, I would have rushed right past this feeling. Skipping the joy, already chasing the next task. But not today. I’ve learned how vital it is to protect and savor these wins. Moments of joy fuels momentum and now that I've been practicing this weekly habit of reflection I know it saves my sanity!

From this vantage point, I can see clearly: I’ve set myself up for success.

  • I have clarity about my purpose and how I’m living it.

  • I know how to tap into the energy of that purpose when I need it.

  • I’m surrounding myself with the right people—and I know why they matter.

  • I’ve created systems that work and documented them so I can teach others faster.

  • I’ve outmaneuvered the mental roadblocks that used to halt my momentum.

Now, it’s time for the final step: building new habits to fully integrate the rewards of this work I've just completed. I know challenges will come, but they don’t feel so intimidating anymore. With the right mindset, I can turn them into opportunities.

The finish line isn't the end—it's a launchpad. And I’m ready.

What makes this sustainable is reminding myself that even in the middle of a race it's ok to stop, be grateful, celebrate where you are at and the beauty of the process. There is magic in this activity that allows me to put stress and worry aside and just breathe. Literally enjoy success. I no longer allow my self critic to rob me of joy.
